BC PNP Draws 2026: ECE Cut-Offs, Schedule & Timeline

IMMIGRATION

In May 2026, an early childhood educator needed a BC PNP score of 115 to get invited.

By September, the bar was 99. In October, it held there.

That’s a 16-point drop in about four months. And I’ve felt it in my own circle. Over the past few weeks, my phone has been full of good news from friends who were stuck just under the line. Some of them had been sitting IELTS again and again to squeeze out a few more points.

So I pulled up the official draw table and mapped out what’s actually happening — how often B.C. is drawing, how far the cut-offs have moved, and what the timeline looks like once that invitation lands.

Just so we’re clear: I’m not a licensed immigration consultant. This is a long-time B.C. resident reading public draw data and sharing what I’ve seen around me. Draw results and rules change, so confirm anything that affects your application with WelcomeBC or a licensed professional.

Are BC PNP Draws Happening Once a Month Now?

Mostly, yes. But there are actually two separate rhythms running side by side, and mixing them up causes a lot of confusion.

According to WelcomeBC’s official invitations page, the Skills Immigration draws in 2026 have fallen into these groups:

Draw type Who it targets How often (2026)
Care + Build round ECEs, priority health care, veterinary care, construction trades Every 4–5 weeks since May
High Economic Impact High-wage job offers, or very high scores in any eligible job Roughly monthly, usually 1–2 weeks after Care + Build
Rural/Remote Health Support A temporary health initiative Occasional (July and September so far)

Here are the actual Care + Build dates: May 6 → June 2 → July 9 → Aug 6 → Sept 10 → Oct 8. The gaps run between 27 and 37 days. So “once a month” is a fair way to describe it — just not on a fixed date.

One thing worth knowing: this is B.C.’s provincial pool, not federal Express Entry. A BC PNP invitation and an Express Entry ITA are two different things, even though people often call both “getting an invite.”

The ECE Cut-Off, Draw by Draw

This is the table my friends kept screenshotting. I added the change column myself because it tells the story better than the raw numbers.

Draw date Min. score Change ECEs invited
May 6, 2026 115 — 86
June 2, 2026 111 −4 91
July 9, 2026 108 −3 91
Aug 6, 2026 102 −6 183
Sept 10, 2026 99 −3 182
Oct 8, 2026 99 0 86

What stands out when you line them up

The drop wasn’t steady. The biggest single fall came in August, when the cut-off lost 6 points and the number of invitations roughly doubled. More invitations means the line reaches further down the pool.

October held at 99 — with half the invitations. September and October share the same cut-off, but October invited 86 ECEs instead of 182. My read (and it’s only a read) is that the drop may be slowing, not continuing at the same pace.

About 719 ECE invitations in six rounds. That’s the total I get adding up May through October. It explains why it suddenly feels like “everyone” is getting invited.

ECEs aren’t the only group moving

Group May 6 Oct 8
Care: Childcare (ECE) 115 99
Care: Health 108 76
Care: Veterinary Care 100 86
Build: Construction Trades 108 94

Health care actually fell further than childcare — 32 points. Childcare now has the highest bar of the four Care + Build groups.

Why All Those IELTS Retakes Finally Paid Off

Here’s the pattern I watched play out with friends this year.

Most of them couldn’t change their job, their wage, or where they worked overnight. Language was the one piece they could still move. So they kept booking tests.

WelcomeBC’s page for workers explains that your registration is scored on human capital factors — work experience, education, and language — plus economic factors like wage and job location in B.C.

The math is simple. When the cut-off falls a few points and you add a few points, the gap closes from both ends. That’s exactly what happened for the people around me. Nobody had a magic jump. They had a slightly better test result arriving at the same time as a slightly lower line.

If you’re in that position, two practical things:

  • Check how a new test result reaches your registration. The Skills Immigration Program Guide on WelcomeBC explains how registrations are scored and updated. Read that section before you assume your new score is “in.”
  • Watch your 12-month clock. A registration stays in the pool for up to 12 months, or until you’re invited. If you’ve been waiting a long time, check when yours expires.

Do You Actually Qualify for the ECE Draw?

This is the part I’d double-check first, because a lower cut-off doesn’t help if you’re not in the right group.

Under the Care: Childcare section of the BC PNP selection of workers list, targeted invitations go to early childhood educators (NOC 42202) who hold a one-year or five-year ECE certificate issued by the B.C. ECE Registry.

An ECE Assistant certificate isn’t on that list. If you’re working your way up from assistant, the certificate level matters as much as your score.

Check What the Skilled Worker stream asks for
Job offer Full-time, indeterminate (no end date), TEER 0–3, from an eligible B.C. employer
Employer support A completed Employer Declaration Form
Experience At least 2 years full-time equivalent
Language At least CLB 4 (higher scores earn more points)
ECE draw extra One-year or five-year ECE certificate from the ECE Registry

Not sure your job title matches NOC 42202? Use the NOC finder on canada.ca and compare the duties, not just the title.

Got the Invitation? Here’s the Timeline

The celebration is real — but the clock starts the same day. This is the sequence WelcomeBC lays out on its workers page.

Stage How long What to know
1. Registration Up to 12 months in the pool No fee to register
2. Invitation (ITA) 30 calendar days to apply Miss it and the invitation expires — you’d have to register again
3. BC PNP application About 3 months for most files* Application fee paid only through the online portal
4. Nomination — You get a Confirmation of Nomination letter
5. IRCC PR application Federal processing Submit before your nomination expires

*WelcomeBC says around 80% of applications are decided within its posted estimate. Check the current fee and processing time on the workers page before you plan around them.

Thirty days goes fast. Reference letters, employment records, and certificates all take longer to collect than people expect. If you’re within a few points of the line, start gathering paperwork now instead of waiting for the email. My PR document checklist is a decent place to start.

Also worth knowing: if you’re in the federal Express Entry pool, the Express Entry BC (EEBC) option links your nomination to your federal profile. WelcomeBC notes that this can add points to your federal profile and may speed up the PR stage.

And one warning I repeat to everyone: BC PNP fees are paid only through the official portal. Anyone asking for a wire transfer, cheque, or gift card is not the province.

When Is the Next Draw?

Nobody outside the program knows for sure. WelcomeBC doesn’t publish a schedule — results simply appear on the invitations page after each round.

If the 2026 pattern holds, the next Care + Build round would land sometime in early to mid November. But “if the pattern holds” is doing a lot of work in that sentence. Rounds can be smaller, later, or skipped.

WelcomeBC also publishes a snapshot of the whole registration pool by score range. As of October 6, 2026, there were 7,695 registrations in the Skills Immigration pool, with the biggest clusters in the 90–99 and 100–109 bands. That table covers every occupation, not just ECEs — but it’s a useful reminder of how many people sit within a few points of each other.

Quick Answers

Is a BC PNP invitation the same as an Express Entry ITA?

No. A BC PNP invitation lets you apply for a provincial nomination. Express Entry ITAs come from the federal government. They can connect through the EEBC option, but they’re separate steps.

I’m an ECE Assistant. Can the childcare draw invite me?

The selection list names a one-year or five-year ECE certificate from the ECE Registry. An assistant certificate alone doesn’t meet that line, though you may still be eligible for other BC PNP draws.

What if I can’t submit within 30 days?

The invitation expires and your registration is removed from the pool. To stay in, you’d need to submit a new registration.

Will the cut-off keep dropping?

There’s no way to know. The September-to-October hold at 99, with fewer invitations, is a sign it might not fall as quickly as it did over the summer.

Annie has spent more than a decade in Victoria, B.C., and went through the provincial nominee route herself before it looked anything like today’s targeted draws. These days she mostly watches the draws on behalf of friends — and celebrates with them when the numbers finally line up.

If you’re an ECE sitting in the mid-to-high 90s, the most useful thing you can do this month isn’t refreshing the draw page. It’s checking your certificate level, confirming your registration hasn’t expired, and getting your documents ready — so that if your name comes up in November, the 30 days feel easy.
